A beautiful example of the whole cloth quilt dating to the first half of the 19th century. The chintz fabric features a pair of running horses with mountains and a river in the background the horses appear to be running across a field of roses and flowers. The colors are mostly blues and browns. Simple quilting in a diamond shape.

Antique Thousand Pyramids Quilt ~ Great Early Fabrics
Alternating rows of solid turkey red fabric and pieced pyramids in
fabulous early fabrics. The backing is great too in a cheddar/olive and
brown/burgundy stripe.
Early Mariners Compass Quilt Circa 1840 with Tulip Border
This exceptional quilt is done in the Mariner's Compass pattern. It is a pattern that only the most accomplished needle woman could undertake. Each compass has 32 points and it was not an easy task to work the pattern out evenly while retaining a circle.
